What does God see when He looks at you and me? Two things I do know: God is not like everyone else, and He does not value what others find so pleasing or desirable.
God’s ways are very different from ours, and His manner of thinking is dissimilar to human thinking. Isaiah 55:8,9 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts.
God looks at individual people much differently than do humans, because He values more essential characteristics than those we usually find important. 1 Samuel 16:6-8 “For God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
Our society values youth, health, beauty, wealth, strength, and pleasure. And while the masses appreciate and even idolize those who have these characteristics in abundance, they dislike and even villify those who have none or few of these characteristics.
God values faith, love, humility, compassion, justice, forgiveness, trust, mercy, and more traits such as these. In each new post, I will explore and expound on what God says in the Bible about each of these desirable qualities.
May our Lord use this blog to touch and comfort hearts about that which is really important. Amen.
